She was walking the shore at Owls Head, ME, on her sixteenth birthday when a Swedish Brig was beating up the bay. The ship's bo'sun was scanning the shore with his telescope when he spotted her. Deciding that this was the girl he was going to marry, he jumped ship the next day at Bangor and made his way down the coast to owls Head. Arriving there, he started looking for his future bride and work and found both when he met her father, a ship's master who needed a hand. They were married three months later.
August was born on 13 August 1860 at Fjelbakka, Sweden. He married Amy Elizabeth McKusic on 1 January 1897 at Owls Head?, ME. August died on 9 December 1930 at Lincolnville, ME, at age 70.

     His body was interred at Camden, Camden, ME. His birth is approximate. His obituary had him born 2 years after his father's death. An article written in 1944 made him 3 years old at his father's death. A tragic shooting accident when he was 9 years old left him without both hands and should have taken his life. Because of his indomitable spirit, he mastered carpentry by using special tools that attached to his wrists with leather straps. He was also a skilled mechanic. It is said that there was no house built, nor machine made, that he couldn't repair.
Mervin was born on 15 October 1895. Mervin died on 20 November 1971 at age 76.
