     Earlier genealogies assumed he was son of Nahum F. and Mary Tarbox McKusick. Civil War Pensioner records show that person to have lived and died on the west coast of the USA. His daughter, Beryl Irene (Known as Jane) MacKusick, believes he was 31 years old when he eloped with her mother (who was 18 years old). The 1891 Nutfield, Surrey, England census has him 44 years old, his wife Louisa is 24 years, and a daughter, Gwendoline, is 4 years old. What happened to this daughter is unknown. Presumably, they were married in 1885 when he was 38 years old. According to his daughter, neither he nor his wife would discuss their marriage or why he emmigrated to England. Howard was born on 10 February 1848 at Foxcroft, Maine.2 He married Louisa Hogg circa 1885 at England. Howard died on 2 June 1919 at Christchurch, England, at age 71.3
